There’s an absurd and cartoony parallel world in my mind. I’ve always had a vivid imagination, easily sparked by mundane, everyday events in my own life. My art combines my love for the acts of drawing and painting (the feel of the brush or marker on the paper, the textures of the materials) and my desire to tell stories though images. I use playful, bright, and graphic images to tell these open-ended stories.
When things go right, an energy and freshness come through in the finished piece. Things can just as easily go wrong, and that unsettling quality is important to me as a theme in all the work I make.
I received my BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Florida. My graduate degree is in Library Science and Museum Studies from the University of South Florida.
